There are a number of different types of golf bags on the market today, and the choices can be overwhelming at times (… just like almost anything nowadays).  Gone are the days of the “monster” leather bags that I remember using, almost weighing as much as me – no more!  Lightweight women’s golf bags produced today make carrying your clubs around from here to there “super easy”.

Today most golf bags come in two categories: Cart Bags & Stand Bags.

Golf Cart BagsFirst, just a little bit about golf bags in general…

Golf club Cart Bags are made more specifically for placing in either a walking or riding golf cart.  The weight of the bag itself tends to be much heavier than the stand (or carry) bag, although golf bags in general weigh much less now than they did previously. Leather bags are the exception.

Stand Bags are pretty self-explanatory.  They are much lighter in weight are are made to carry if you choose to.  Usually coming with some kind of carry strap or shoulder harness and typically made of nylon, carting them around the course is a pretty easy job with the new style bags – if you’re up for it of course!
They also fit onto a golf cart, although just a little care is needed strapping them in. You don’t want to crush the legs, so a little caution is necessary.

There are also what they call “Carry” or “Sunday” golf bags which usually hold a smaller number of clubs and have nothing more than the “bare bones” to get you around the course.  They certainly have their place, but I think most women today go for the typical cart bag.

You might also hear the tern “Staff” golf bag. These are usually high quality leather bags the professional golfers use – they are BIG & HEAVY (and very expensive) and are carted around the course by a caddy.  These are not for us!

Today’s golf bags are primarily made from lightweight nylon, which is the main reason why carry bags are on the upswing.  Most professional golfers still use the rugged leather bags mentioned above; the ones that you could load the contents of your home into (exaggerating of course)!  Hahaha, their caddies might wish they had something to say about that!  99% of the golfers playing today are amateurs, and we don’t need that kind of bag, although built to last and incredibly beautiful.

The #1 Golf Bag Type Women Prefer

Cart Golf Bags!
They are light, more practical, and offer many options. Most women will not want to carry their own clubs, and will either use a pull or push cart, or a motorized golf cart. Look for compartments on the bag for storage, and also how the clubs fit inside - there are variations, and all will influence price.
